ToggleThe Idaho-based clothing and accessory designer KLIM enjoys an excellent reputation. While we can’t claim that their products are affordable, they are undoubtedly of superior quality. Buying a KLIM product is a guarantee of full satisfaction. That’s why I acquired the F5 helmet and Aeon goggles this year.
At first glance, I chose these quad accessories based on the fact that I could use them both in winter and summer. If I’m going to spend a significant amount, I want to make sure it’s a worthwhile investment! I’m sure you’ll agree. As such, this helmet and these goggles have all the attributes to be used in all conditions.
KLIM F5 Helmet: Comfort Without Compromise
The exceptional features of the DOT/ECE-certified F5 helmet can be broken down into three parts: lightness, ventilation, and safety. These were achieved through the use of premium materials and cutting-edge technology.
Lightness and Comfort
When selecting a helmet, I usually focus on its specifications, and one of my top criteria is its weight. This is crucial for a pleasant ride. The KLIM F5 helmet is lighter than average, which is a feature I truly appreciate. When I practically forget I’m wearing something on my head, that’s a very good sign!
To reduce weight, KLIM used the lightest material currently on the market. This helmet is also available in three shell sizes, meaning the shell stays as small as possible in coordination with the helmet size for the user.
Once on my head, the F5 helmet was well adjusted without any feeling of compression. I could even have conversations without feeling like the cheek pads were squeezing my jaw. A good way to test this aspect is to chew gum while wearing the helmet. If you feel as if you’re biting the inside of your cheek with each chew, the helmet isn’t the right fit. In the case of the F5, it fit my shape perfectly, meaning it will remain comfortable for hours.
Advanced Ventilation System
The F5 helmet’s ventilation is also excellent, thanks to its 18 air intakes and 8 vents. When riding at a proper speed, I always feel a refreshing breeze. Heat circulates instantly from the rear and top of my head through the vents and welded tubes. This provides excellent heat dissipation even on hot days. I’ve worn this helmet on several long rides in tight conditions where I was sweating. Each time, the F5 helmet demonstrated impressive efficiency.
But wait! That’s not all! In winter, you may not want constant ventilation. Don’t worry. In addition to a nice storage bag, the F5 helmet comes with a Gore-Tex Windstopper skullcap. You can adjust it between the removable Drylex liner and the Koroyd layers, blocking the ventilation on cooler days. A plastic-reinforced-fabric breath deflector is also included to keep your face warm in cold weather. Finally, an extra helmet visor and hardware are included if needed.
FIDLOCK Latch System: A Handy Magnetic Feature
One interesting feature I discovered with this helmet is the FIDLOCK magnetic helmet strap. This aluminum attachment system allows you to quickly put on and take off the F5 helmet. The magnetic locks securely and releases effortlessly when pulled the right way. I wish more helmets came with this system because it’s easy, quick, and secure.
By combining extremely low weight, intuitive ventilation, and next-generation safety features, KLIM has designed the F5 helmet to offer the best riding experience in the most demanding environments, all day long.
KLIM Aeon Goggles: Adaptable Protection for All Conditions
If you’re going to treat yourself, why not go all out? I chose the electric-blue KLIM Aeon goggles for one reason above all others: they are photochromic. That means the lens adjusts its opacity depending on the sunlight. This technology is becoming more widespread on the market, and I love it!
Photochromic Lens Technology
“Photochromic lenses are clear (or almost transparent) lenses that automatically darken when exposed to sunlight and return to their clear state in the shade. They are sometimes referred to as ‘adaptive light lenses,’ ‘variable tint lenses,’ or ‘transition lenses.’ […] It typically takes about 30 seconds for them to fully darken and about 2 to 5 minutes to return to their clear state.”—lunettes-de-soleil.fr
I’m sure you’ll agree that this is a huge advantage when light conditions change during the day. I tend to squint my eyes when the sun is too bright, but the KLIM Aeon goggles prevent that discomfort.
Ventilation and Anti-Fog Protection
KLIM’s Aeon goggles offer superior ventilation and increased internal air volume. This is due to the spherical design of the lens. The added air volume, full-frame ventilation system, and anti-fog coating work together beautifully. These features make the Aeon goggles an extremely high-performing accessory.
Compatibility With the KLIM F5 Helmet
In conclusion, the comfort of the Aeon goggles and their compatibility with the F5 helmet are fantastic. They fit perfectly with the helmet and provide a seamless fit without air leaks while riding
