2025 marks a notable comeback in the world of two-up ATVs, with the Polaris Sportsman Touring 570. Fully redesigned, this mid-size ATV promises the perfect balance of power, comfort, and versatility. As a full member of the legendary Sportsman lineup, the Touring version aims to attract riders seeking thrills without sacrificing passenger comfort. With its refreshed styling and ProStar 570 engine, it delivers confidence and freedom, whether on long forest rides or more technical trails.
What’s New on the 2025 Polaris Sportsman Touring 570 Premium?
100% LED Lighting
First, the Premium version of the Sportsman Touring 570 now features full LED lighting. The new LED headlights replace the old halogen units, both front and rear.
Upgraded Passenger Seat
Next, Polaris updated the passenger seat. Not only is it more comfortable, but it can also be removed with a simple click.
“Cavernous” Storage
Then there’s the storage. Waterproof storage under the front and rear racks has grown to 11 gal (41.6 L). Perfect for carrying gear or tools. I have to give a special mention to the rear storage. You could call it a cave—it’s that deep.
Other Noteworthy Updates
Finally, here are a few more changes on the 2025 Sportsman Touring 570, worth noting:
- Overall vehicle length increased by 10 cm.
- Rack extenders with more tie-down points.
- Increased ground clearance thanks to new 26 in Duro tires.
- Higher towing capacity.
- Exclusive “Springfield Blue” colour option for a sharp look.
That said, there’s one drawback. The 2025 Premium edition weighs about 45 kg (99 lb) more than the previous Ultimate version. But is that extra weight a disadvantage or a gain in comfort? Let’s take a closer look!
ProStar 570 Engine: Performance and Riding Experience
With 44 hp at your fingertips, the Sportsman Touring 570 delivers solid performance. Hit the throttle, and the ProStar 570 engine responds with liveliness. Its quick revving nature comes with no surprises.
But the engine also knows how to be smooth when needed. I found it ideal for towing loads or cruising at a relaxed pace. Its generous torque makes climbing hills with extra weight effortless.
It has everything you need to have fun—balanced, without being excessive or hard to control.
Transmission, Traction, and EPS: Smooth and Rough Spots
The CVT (continuously variable transmission) is paired with a two-range gearbox: Low and High. The gear indicator is clearly visible on the digital display. However, while the inline shifter is easy to use, I found its placement awkward. Several times, it banged into my knee while trying to shift into “P”. Taller riders like me (I’m 6 ft) will need to keep the right leg out of the way.
The Premium model also benefits from EBS (Engine Braking System) combined with ADC (Active Descent Control). I found these features very effective at maintaining control on downhills, even in 4 × 4 mode.
A simple handlebar switch lets you shift from 2WD to 4WD when needed. The front differential isn’t manually lockable, but the “On-Demand AWD” system proves highly effective on tough terrain.
Sportsman Touring 570 Premium Suspension : Comfort and Control
At the rear, you get adjustable shocks with 5 settings, 24 cm (9.45 in) of travel, and independent dual A-arms. Up front, the Premium edition keeps MacPherson struts with 21 cm (8.25 in) of travel. The Ultimate edition, however, comes with dual A-arms for greater travel and comfort.
On the trail, the suspension performs well, especially at lower speeds. That said, I personally would have liked a stiffer front suspension for higher-speed rides. I also can’t overlook the fact that the rear shock adjustment knob is perfectly placed… to bust your knuckles. Still, it’s compliant, planted, and comfortable for both the rider and passenger without excessive fatigue.
Handling and Manoeuvrability of Polaris’ Two-Up ATV
The new 26 in. Duro radial tires mounted on 14 in. rims provided reliable traction across every surface we encountered. Their aggressive tread pattern grips well. With 29 cm (11.5 in.) of ground clearance, the Sportsman cleared nearly all the obstacles we faced over 200 km of riding. Hydraulic disc brakes, activated by a single lever, also worked effectively.
With a 142 cm (56 in.) wheelbase and 122 cm (48 in.) width, the Sportsman Touring 570 feels stable in corners yet agile in tight passages. The passenger benefits from independent grab bars and raised footrests for a very secure stance.
As a fun anecdote: when I hopped on as a passenger, my partner—who weighs nearly half as much as me—even asked, “Wait, are you really back there?” That should give you an idea.
The EPS (Multi-Select Electric Power Steering) system offers three levels of assistance: Low, Medium, and High. High is perfect for work or very low-speed riding. For trail riding, I prefer Low for more control. Modes can be changed through the interface, but it’s not as easy as I expected. A dedicated handlebar button would have been better. At a stop, there’s a slight looseness in the bars, but it disappears once moving.
Riding Solo? Transform your Sportsman Touring 570 Premium
Remove the passenger seat, and you’ve got a perfectly balanced ATV for solo riding. It pops off quickly with one hand and gives the rider an even longer seat. The extended wheelbase adds stability at higher speeds while also boosting comfort.
Utility Capabilities of the Sportsman Touring 570
Combined rack capacity reaches 122 kg (268 lb), with room for up to three 20 L buckets. It’s compatible with Polaris Lock & Ride accessories and can tow up to 612 kg (1,346 lb) with a 1.25 in hitch. A 2 in. receiver, like many competitors offer, would be even better.
Add in rack extenders, a sturdy front bumper, and a 12v outlet, and you’ve got a capable, versatile machine.
Simplified Maintenance
Maintaining the Sportsman Touring 570 Premium is easy. Engine access is simple with clip-on panels. Air filter changes require no tools. The oversized battery sits up front for quick starts. Finally, the radiator cap is also easy to reach.

My Verdict on the 2025 Sportsman Touring 570 Premium
With its new, bulkier look, the Sportsman Touring 570 Premium feels bigger than it really is. While not a perfect vehicle, its comfort and versatility will likely win over many riders.
For those who love sharing the ride but find side-by-sides too bulky or too expensive, this two-up ATV is a smart alternative. I found the Sportsman fun, nimble, capable, and compact enough to take wherever I wanted. With its price and features, it’s a sensible choice for adventurers—even with a passenger.
A sincere thank you to Eric Mathieu and the entire Appalaches Performance team for letting me test this machine.
