As usual, Can-Am offers a wide range of vehicles for 2021. Valcourt’s new flagship is the Maverick X3 X-RS with the new SMART-SHOX suspension. This system allows the computer to adjust both compression and rebound in just 0.017 seconds. This keeps the vehicle’s attitude horizontal, minimizing roll and improving stability.

The other big change in the Can-Am quad fleet, and one that has been expected for the past few years, is the complete redesign of the legendary Commander. Can-Am has gone all out to offer a complete sport-utility ATV that doesn’t compromise in either recreational or work mode. There are many similarities with the Maverick line, such as the identical cab. It is often said: Why redo what is well done?

In the Defender line, dedicated to work, Can-Am launches the 6×6 XT HD10 model. This model is made for the hardest work with its 6 wheels and its 6 feet box. It can tow up to 3000lbs. The Defender is available in several configurations and with a wide range of equipment adapted to our needs. We can have it in a 4 seat version, with or without a cabin, in a mud version or in a PRO version. The latter is a 2-seater, but with a 6′ x 4.5′ box.

For the rest of the VCC range. We have the choice of different configurations for the Maverick Sport or the Maverick Trail. The Trail, as the name suggests, is designed for trails. It is 50 inches wide and available in 2 configurations; it allows you to have the comfort of a CCV with the width of an ATV. The Sport is wider and available in 6 configurations which gives us the choice of versions designed for rock, performance or mud. It is even available in a 4-seater version.

Since 2011, the Commander has reigned as Can-Am’s all-purpose autoquad. With the advent of the Defender, his role is more defined towards a trail machine, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t competent. But, the valiant Commander is at the end of his career and is headed for a well-deserved retirement. When will we see a new generation Commander? The 3-cylinder ACE 900 would be perfect on a platform derived from the Maverick Sport, wouldn’t it?

The iconic X XC is back in a 2.0 version. Take the base of the Maverick Sport with the 100hp engine, add longer arched suspension arms, big 29″ Maxxis Bighorn boots, … and voila! A comfortable touring car with the stability of a barge but the agility of a race car.  You guessed it, everything I love about the Maverick Sport, I love about the Xxc. The addition of a Smartlok front differential makes the package even more attractive without the flashy colors of its twin brother the Xrc and $1,500 less expensive.

The Maverick Trail is the ultimate narrow (50″) trail quad. The classic V-twin engine is carried over from the Defender and the long wheelbase gives the Trail a stability and ride comfort that is unmatched for an autoquad in this class. The Trail is by far the most stable in the industry when the trails turn into shell craters (figuratively speaking, of course) while offering Lazy-Boy-like comfort in your living room. I recommend it without hesitation.

The X3 is still the undisputed master of performance among all brands of quad bikes! The turbocharged engine offers three variations of the three-cylinder: 120, 172 and now 195 horsepower with 135 feet of torque! All this with a crazy suspension and a modern look. Now offered in 15 different models in 64 or 72 inch widths with two or four seats, the Can-Am X3 has something for everyone. The addition of the Smartlok electronic locking front differential makes it even more versatile.
