Polaris RZR XP Pro Turbo Ultimate Dynamix Review

Polaris RZR XP Pro 1000 Turbo Ultimate Dynamix

Being a recreational vehicle reviewer is always exciting. Over the past 17 or 18 years, I’ve had the privilege of testing a lot of snowmobiles, ATVs, side-by-sides and also a few Spyders and Rykers. Among these tests, there are some that stand out more than others. Often, they are high-end, ultra-sporty models or ones that perfectly meet our expectations as riders. Over the past few months, I had the opportunity to test a Polaris RZR XP Pro Turbo Ultimate Dynamix. I have to admit that this one has become one of my favorite quads! In this article, I will try to put into words what I felt behind the wheel.

Polaris RZR XP Pro 1000 Turbo Ultimate Dynamix

First of all, I have to say that it took about two years of waiting before I could sit in a Polaris RZR XP Pro Turbo Ultimate Dynamix. Indeed, since its launch, it was part of my checklist of vehicles to test. Christian Maltais of Maltais Performance in Paspébiac sensed my desire to put some miles on this model. He went out of his way to make my dream come true. I thank him greatly.

That being said, I first drove the vehicle for a while in order to consume this honeymoon and then allow me to come back to earth! Indeed, the challenge of this type of test is to be transparent and impartial. Otherwise, what is a test drive report worth?

The Look of the RZR XP Pro Turbo Ultimate Dynamix

As soon as you lay your eyes on the RZR XP Pro Ultimate, you can’t help but be charmed. Polaris did a great job on this side. The fluid lines of the panels let you see its sporty and aggressive behavior. I should mention here that the unit I tested was equipped with a hardtop, but it is an accessory and the look of the roof does not reflect the rest of the vehicle. This brings me to the point that the manufacturer should offer a hardtop as standard equipment. Having to pay for a roof on a vehicle costing over $35,000 (Cnd) is definitely an irritant.

Although they look great, the doors are not completely full. I have a bit of trouble with half doors or doors that are not full on a vehicle of this price. However, as I just mentioned, they match the look of the machine very well.

The front end of the Polaris RZR XP Pro Turbo Ultimate Dynamix commands respect. The signature headlights complement the design of the vehicle.

Polaris ProStar 900 Turbo engine

When you present a vehicle with such a sporty look, it is clear that it must be equipped with a high-performance powertrain. Polaris delivers it with its 925cc twin-cylinder turbocharged 181 hp engine. The manufacturer has tuned this engine to optimize its performance in the 32-80 kph (20-50 mph) range. This is precisely the speed range we ride in most of the time. Personally, this is probably the most impressive acceleration from a standstill of all the standard quads I’ve tried so far. Wow!

The turbo responds immediately at any rpm. Indeed, the RZR XP Pro Turbo Ultimate Dynamix engine offers instant and precise power as soon as you press the throttle.

The transmission of this power to the wheels is smooth. However, when the drive shaft closes on the belt, there is a small rattling noise. According to the manufacturer, the pulley cooling system now doubles the life of the belt.

The Dynamix suspension

In order not to repeat myself, I will refer you to my article on semi-active suspensions:

Innovative technologies: Semi-active suspensions

I talk about the functioning of this type of suspension but most of all, I give my comments on the Dynamix suspension test on this vehicle.

Driving

The adage “Speed is nothing without control” applies very well to this type of quad. You can have all the power you want, but if the vehicle is uncontrollable, it’s useless. In this respect, Polaris has done its homework… Very well in fact! Indeed, the RZR XP Pro Turbo Ultimate Dynamix is a pleasure to ride. Its power steering is exemplary. It is precise, while providing us with feedback on the terrain on which we ride. The Dynamix suspension ensures that the vehicle remains stable at all times while driving. There’s no roll in corners, no camber or dive under hard acceleration or braking. All four tires remain in good contact with the ground.

Conclusion of my review of the RZR XP Pro Turbo Ultimate Dynamix

The RZR XP Pro Turbo Ultimate Dynamix from Polaris is a machine that is designed for experienced quad riders who love performance. Its purchase price is not within the reach of everyone and for this reason, Polaris seems to limit the number of units and thus create a certain rarity.

If you are shopping for this type of vehicle, I would not hesitate to recommend it. I personally would love to have one in my garage!

Once again, I would like to thank Maltais Performance of Paspébiac for making this test drive possible.

See you on the trails!
