ToggleTwo years ago, we had the 2021 version of the Segway Fugleman in our hands. Since then, much has changed. Recently, we had the chance to test the 2024 version of this Segway utility vehicle, the Fugleman UT10X.
It’s worth noting that back in 2021, we were among the lucky few who got to see the very first Segway vehicles designed for the Canadian market. We were pleasantly surprised by the high level of refinement, especially considering that Segway was just starting out in its new motorized era. The utility category hasn’t been overlooked, and Segway offers us a version with real bite!
2024 Version Improvements
While some details may seem minor, they make a big difference on the 2024 Fugleman model. First, the bodywork just in front of the rear wheel has been streamlined. This “slim down” improves ventilation, heat dissipation, and overall cooling performance.
Second, the addition of the CVtech clutch is a welcome improvement. In the past, I felt the Fugleman revved too high, which was unpleasant. Now, this annoyance is a thing of the past, and we have a vehicle with smoother, jerk-free acceleration.
Versions of the Segway Fugleman UT10X: Standard and Premium
There are two models of the Fugleman with a single bench seat: the base model (Standard) and the more luxurious one (Premium), which we tested. At first glance, I can easily describe the Segway Fugleman UT10X as a utility vehicle. There’s no denying it based on its dimensions and stature, which is a good thing. Segway seems to have gone all out to make a bold entry into the market, and this vehicle is proof of that.
A Powerful Engine
Say what you will, the Fugleman UT10X commands respect. Its imposing size clearly signals its primary mission: to get the job done! And to achieve this, it’s powered by a twin-cylinder 1,000 cc engine that produces a surprising 105 hp. Yes, you read that right! This 105 hp engine powers this beast through the toughest tasks or even family recreational activities.
While competitors offer less power with a similar engine size, Segway seems determined to stand firmly by offering something truly extraordinary. For comparison, this is the same engine that powers Segway’s Villain, their sports side-by-side vehicle. The Villain also turns heads—and for good reason.
Attention to Detail
When looking inside the Segway Fugleman UT10X, I couldn’t ignore the oversized central screen on the dashboard. WOW! It exceeded almost all my expectations, and I had to pinch myself to be sure I wasn’t dreaming.
The central screen has all the features you could imagine. With Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, this changes everything. Navigation, music, and vehicle data like tilt angles are already well beyond what we expected from a manufacturer that’s relatively new to this market segment.
The LCD screen in front of the steering wheel provides everything you need at a glance while driving. The display brightness makes it easy to read, either day or night.
An Interior That Reflects All We Expect from a Utility Vehicle
Like most utility quads, the Fugleman UT10X has a bench seat for three people. Additionally, headrests are provided for both the driver and the passenger to the right. However, fitting three large adults in this vehicle is not possible—they would definitely feel cramped!
Well-Equipped with Accessories
The Fugleman UT10X comes very well equipped straight from the factory to get to work right away. The roof provides good protection from the elements. That said, a small front lip to serve as a gutter would be appreciated during heavy rain. My vehicle is equipped with a 4,500 lb winch with a remote control, which will certainly be useful for both utility and recreational functions.
Room for Improvement
The full doors’ quality is likely better than many other quads; however, they don’t have an exterior handle, which would make access easier. It’s just a minor detail, but it leaves room for improvement for Segway.
The rear cargo bed has a loading capacity of 1,000 lb, which is more than enough for most enthusiasts. However, the bed’s threshold is somewhat high since the engine is located directly underneath. A hydraulic strut allows the bed to tilt smoothly.
Conclusion
The Fugleman UT10X has a two-inch rear hitch that can tow up to 2,500 lb. All in all, this Segway utility quad has all the tools to get the job done quickly and efficiently. Note that a version with a 600 cc engine will be available in 2025. Whether for work or play, the Segway Fugleman UT10X is certainly not to be overlooked.
