ToggleYamaha has just unveiled its 2025 lineup, and a new model has been introduced: the Wolverine RMAX4 1000 with an extended chassis. Yamaha is the latest of the major Japanese manufacturers to offer a four-seat, long-chassis version. In 2020, Honda introduced the Talon 1000, and in 2024, Kawasaki launched the Teryx KRX4. With the addition of the Wolverine RMAX4 1000 for 2025, Yamaha completes the lineup, offering a model sure to meet the expectations of many brand enthusiasts.
Benefits of the Wolverine RMAX4 1000 Long Chassis
As mentioned, the Wolverine RMAX4 1000’s 2025 model features an extended chassis, which offers two primary benefits:
- The wheels positioned behind the seats enhance shock absorption and provide greater stability on trails.
- This longer chassis also allows for more space for both passengers and gear, thanks to the addition of a tilting cargo bed for convenient storage and transport!
On the downside, a longer chassis naturally results in a slight reduction in manoeuvrability and agility in tight spaces. For this reason, Yamaha continues to offer a short-chassis version to meet a wider range of consumer needs.
Full-Size Cabin of the Wolverine RMAX4 1000: Comfort and Space
The new Wolverine RMAX4 1000 now features a full-size rear cabin, providing ample space to comfortably seat adult passengers.
The rear seats are independent from the cargo bed, allowing gear transport without compromising passenger space.
Additionally, Yamaha has added several new conveniences to this model, including new handles, angled footrests, and full-size doors. Drivers will also appreciate the new touch controls, interior lighting, and updated infotainment system.
New Tilting Cargo Bed on the Four-Seat Model
A key upgrade to the Wolverine RMAX4 1000 is the addition of a rear tilting cargo bed. Previously, short-chassis models couldn’t offer this feature, since the rear seats shared the cargo space. With the extended chassis, the RMAX4 1000 now includes a tilting bed that can hold up to 600 lbs.
Adventure Pro System
Yamaha introduces a new infotainment system with the RMAX4 1000, featuring a 7-inch display showing vehicle information, navigation data, a backup camera view, and the MTX audio system with Bluetooth connectivity.
The backup camera is standard on the Limited version and available as an option on the SE, which comes pre-wired for easy installation.
The Limited model also includes an additional 4.3-inch TFT screen for personalized vehicle data and enhanced information display.
New 4WD On-Command System and Turf Mode
This year, the Wolverine RMAX4 1000 introduces another innovation: the upgraded 4WD On-Command drive system. It promises faster engagement and disengagement of the front differential. Additionally, it now features a Turf Mode, allowing the rear differential to disengage for more versatile, lawn-friendly use at home.
Equipped with QS3 shocks on the SE version and FOX iQS suspension on the Limited version (adjustable by switch), the new RMAX4 1000 boasts a rear suspension travel of 16.9 in. and a front travel of 14.2 in.
It also comes with 30-inch Maxxis Carnivore tires, delivering an impressive ground clearance of 13.8 in.
Performance and Operation
The 2025 RMAX4 1000 features a powerful 999 cc twin-cylinder engine and Yamaha’s durable Ultramatic automatic transmission. It includes the new D-mode system, allowing for three power settings—Sport, Trail, and Crawl—adjustable with a simple dial. This feature lets drivers adapt the vehicle’s performance to their needs and terrain while fully utilizing the engine’s power.
This year, Yamaha also completely overhauled the braking system, replacing the calipers, pads, front and rear brake lines, and ball joints with new models for enhanced safety and performance.
The 2025 RMAX4 comes with a factory-installed VRX Warn winch, with a capacity of 4,500 lbs.
Conclusion
While Yamaha may be the last to introduce a long-chassis model, it certainly stands up to its competitors. Its distinctive design and spacious cabin reflect a luxury automotive feel, and with its large tires and powerful engine, each acceleration delivers a rush of adrenaline.
In short, every aspect of this vehicle has been carefully designed to meet all your needs, making it a top choice for thrill seekers and trail adventurers alike!
