Gaspésie Quad Tour – Day 7

Last day of our Gaspésie Quad Tour. So it is with a touch of melancholy that I pack my bags in the trailer and my gear on my quad. After breakfast, we resume our journey to Amqui.

Devastated Forest Area

A few kilometres after our departure, we passed through an area where the forest had been severely damaged by the winds. Many trees had been uprooted, torn out, or simply broken.

Seeing the damage caused, one can only become aware of the power of nature. Of course, we saw many loggers at work in this area and also throughout our journey.

A Small Surprise Detour

Our guides surprised us by adding a detour to the Matane Reserve to our Gaspésie ATV Tour. Of course, they made the necessary requests well before our trip. Indeed, as it is a reserve, ATV traffic is normally prohibited there.

Thus, not only were we fortunate to have one last look at the Chic-Chocs, but we were also able to cross part of them at their base. Indeed, we followed the Cap-Chat River for about fifteen kilometres.

The highlight of this part of the journey was undoubtedly when, around a bend, Mount Nicol-Albert was revealed to us. With a height of 890 metres, the slope we saw was very steep. This made it even more impressive.

After a break, we resume our journey towards Étang-à-la-Truite and, subsequently, Lake Matane. It is at this location that we stopped for lunch.

Final Stretch of the Gaspésie ATV Tour

The last afternoon of this beautiful expedition passed without incident. Thus, we arrived in Amqui around 4:45 p.m., after a day of 240 km. According to my ATV’s odometer, we travelled 1,396 km, with an average speed of 37 km/h.

After saying goodbye, all the members of this trip headed back home. I cherish wonderful memories of my seventh Gaspésie ATV Tour. So, like many participants, I’m up for the next edition.

Until next year!
