Last Fall, I had the chance to test-ride the 2022 Polaris Sportsman 570 EPS. I must admit that I wasn’t sure what to expect when I got behind the handlebars. On the one hand, it is a basic model without all the advanced technologies. On the other hand, this ATV inherits the DNA of the Polaris Sportsman family. I figured there was nothing better than hitting the trails to make up my mind!
First of all, this quad captured my attention in terms of looks. Its appearance is sober, but aesthetically, it is very well done. The choice of the “Desert Sand” color enhances its look.
The presence of the bumper that protects the entire front of the Sportsman 570 EPS gives it a lot of character. I love it!
Motorization
I was surprised at how much power this 567cc engine makes, or more precisely, how much power it makes when you press the throttle. The engine responds quickly and without hesitation. Power pickups are interesting. This is very appreciated when exiting corners and riding at a good pace.
The pulleys efficiently transmit power to the vehicle’s wheels, regardless of the engine’s speed. It’s very pleasant. Polaris did a great job of calibrating the transmission on the Sportsman 570.
So, whether you want to go for solo rides or go out riding with other quads with higher displacements, this ATV will be up to the task.
Suspension
The suspension is rather basic, but it does the job very well under normal use.
Indeed, this quad is equipped with a front suspension with MacPherson shocks as well as an independent double wishbone suspension in the rear. The travel is 8.2 inches in the front and 9.5 inches in the rear.
Ground clearance is 11.5 inches, which allows for relatively rough roads. I must specify that this does not affect the stability of the vehicle.
Storage
The front and rear racks are equipped with a tubular outline that allows you to easily attach your bags, suitcases or other items you want to bring along. At the front, we have access to a trunk under the carrier. This one is waterproof and allows you to store the tools or papers of the machine. Its space is not very large, but it is still very practical.
Riding Experience
Here, the DNA of the Polaris family is obvious. As soon as you sit down, you’ll notice that your position is very comfortable. The seat provides good support. The legs are in a natural position and there’s plenty of room for your feet. They are also well protected.
On trails or in rough terrain, the Polaris Sportsman 570 EPS handles very well. The vehicle remains predictable even when encountering holes, bumps or other obstacles.
The power steering makes driving easier, especially during tight maneuvers at low speeds. As you increase the pace, the assistance decreases, but it remains a little too present at high speeds.
To Conclude
Whether you want to ride on trails, in the woods or to the cottage, the Polaris Sportsman 570 EPS is very well suited. It may not be the most powerful or well-equipped quad, but I was still pleasantly surprised by its capabilities and behavior.
I must say that this is a very good buy for an ATV that retails for under $11,000 Canadian. If you want more options, more equipped versions are also available.
