Gaspésie Quad Tour 2023 – Day 2

After a good night’s sleep at the Motel Interprovincial, Pointe-à-la-Croix, our group set off for Bonaventure. Once again, we were treated to beautiful weather. Beautiful sunshine, not too hot and not too cool. Just perfect!

Day 2’s route offers a vast array of trail types. I’d say it’s probably the day that offers the most variety. We saw a bit of everything!

Allow me to give you a few examples below:

New since June 2022 Edition

Until the June 2022 edition of the Tour de la Gaspésie, a small bridge was at the end of its life. It seemed to have undergone many improvements over the years. Although it was pretty solid, I took a leap of faith every time we crossed it…

This year, surprise! The wooden bridge has been replaced by a metal structure.

We took a short break here. We took the opportunity to compare the new bridge with the old one… One question comes to mind when I see this structure… But how on earth did they manage to bring the new structure to this spot? After all, the paths on either side of the river are very narrow. Another unsolved Gaspesian mystery.

We resumed our journey and drove for about an hour before stopping for dinner. Today, we dined in the forest! Our guides chose a nice spot with a great view.

2nd Part of the Day

After lunch, we got back on our quads and headed up a mountain where we found Le Calvaire viewpoint. When I say climb, I mean climb! It’s a “p’tit pêché” climb. The traction of our machines was put to the test.

This steep climb is well worth it. The view of the region is breathtaking.

The area is well laid out to take in the beautiful scenery
Behind the scenes… Here’s the platform nestled above the mountain.

The rest of the trip was uneventful, and we arrived relatively early at the Riotel Hotel in Bonaventure.  This is where we’ll be spending the night.

Conclusion of Day 2

This completes my summary of Day 2 of our Gaspé tour. Tomorrow should be the last day of good weather on our trip. In fact, we’re expecting a few days of rain starting on Wednesday. So, we’ll be swapping dust for rain for the second part of our trip.

Until tomorrow!
